I paid a courier to collect a product that wasn't in stock, can I sue the shop owner?

I saw a product online which I wanted. I called the company to check the availability. I was notified that it is in stock and that I could make arrangements to come to your warehouse to collect the next day. I notified the sales staff that I would be sending a van which will incur a cost for me so it is vital that the product was available to collect. I made an agreement with a courier to collect the products and I called the shop to verify the availability of the product before the courier departed. I was notified that the products were available and the courier should depart.

Upon arrival and a delay of up to 2 hours, the shop staff notified us that the products were in-fact not in stock, they also hadn’t been in-stock during my initial phone call. The staff admitted negligence and false information was provided resulting in losses for me.

The courier has agreed to act as a witness and I have bank evidence of payment made to courier. Can I sue? Do I have a claim?
