Can my employer change my working hours?

Posted on 27 Jan 2016

I have worked for a small distribution company for the past 4 years. My working hours have always been 6am until 2pm (Monday to Friday), with occasional overtime on the weekends. But my employer now wants to change my hours so I work 9am to 5pm on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays (still 6am to 2pm on the other days).

I really don't want to change my hours, as I have 2 young children at primary school and would need to arrange childcare to pick them up from school on the days I would be working later than normal. Can I refuse to change my hours without putting my job at risk?
