If you are on secondment and your previous role have all gone through pay review and had increases, should you also be reviewed?

I am currently on secondment for 9 months. In my orignal role, all employees have had a pay review resulting in siginificant increases to salary. However I have been told I am not entitled to one as I am on secondment. 

Is this correct? My pay is now out of line in my new role and this was a position I took to upskill and receive a higher salary however I am now on less. My seconded role also involved training the employees of my original role.
