Co-habitation breakdown with no agreement in place

Posted on 24 Oct 2017

I have been co-habiting with my partner for over 9 years in her house.  We now have decided to end the relationship. There is no co-habitation agreement in place. I was told initially that I would be paid for the contributions I made during the 9 years. I have been contributing to the housekeeping items and for a period of 4 years contributed substantially to the mortgage.  I also added value to the property by adding a conservatory, renovations to the lounge, dining room and bedrooms.

After agreeing to pay me, she has now retracted her decision, having seen the amount of contribution I have made.

I understand that there is a legislation based on 'beneficial of ownership', could you please give me some insight?  If I bring a case based on this what my chances of success?
