Am I being blackmailed?

I have been asked via text for money to stop this person going to the police with what they say is evidence of a crime a family member commited. Damage to a car. I was also given a time within to reply and get money.

I did not reply and told  nobody. I received another message saying.. I warned you and expect a visit.. I guess from police of which hasn't happened yet..
