Changes were made to the Bail Act earlier in the year, which imposed restrictions on the length of time the police were able to place people on bail for. As a result, rather than be placed on 'formal' bail, most people interviewed by police are 'released under investigation'.

The police would normally provide information to you or your solicitors, advising what their next steps would be. It could be that they have further enquiries to make or that the matter has been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service for a decision as to whether you are to be charged and with what.

Hello. The answer will depend on whether you are talking about a curfew as a condition of bail or as a punishment as part of a sentence. If you are referring to a curfew as a condition of your bail, there is no minimum or maximum. If however, you have been sentenced to a Community Order with a Curfew Requirement, this can be between 2 and 16 hours in any 24 hour period. If you refer to a Curfew imposed as part of the early release scheme (Home Detention Curfew) the operational period will normally be between 7pm and 7am.

How many hours can you be curfewed or tagged for? Is there legally a maximum hours that you can be held at home on tag?
