What happens if i change my employment status whilst acting as a sponsor for my wife's spouse visa? Do i have to inform the government?

Me (British citizen) and my wife (Indonesian) are planning to apply for a spouse visa this year. I am currently employed and meet the necessary financial requirements. I want to ask what happens if i change my job? I am currently employed at another company but i will be setting up my own business in the next few months. Do we have to inform the government of a change of my job if i quit my current job and become full time self employed? Or after my wife has already got the visa and entered the UK is it possible for us to not inform the government and wait until the next time we have to extend her visa?
